Jess: I am by no means a “good” chess player. I learned back when I was a kid and have probably played a total of ten games in my life (unless you count wizard’s chess. that game was so cool). So when you say chess I might have to stifle a yawn. I know I am a philistine, but there you have it. My dirty secrets are revealed. I don’t like chess and yet, three player chess sounds more interesting to me.
Three-player Chess uses a star shaped board to allow you to wage war against your opponents on two fronts. As creator Dennis Piskovatskov says, “This version of game makes it possible to go new ways and to try new strategies, which the classical version does not allow. When you play this game you have to make diplomacy decisions, because there are situations which you have to discuss with your players.”
The Kickstarter offers several pledge levels ranging from a printable version of the game to boxes with wooden boards and plastic pieces.
The top tier pledge allows you to design unique chessboard, but you must contact the company before pledging. The wooden boards seem a little pricey, but if you are looking for a unique holiday gift for someone who loves chess, this might just be a winner.
There are only 9 days left to go on this Kickstarter, so if you want to get a copy of 3 Player Chess you’ll need to act fast and get your friends involved. Without some love, this Kickstarter is not going to make it.
