Sailor Moon Gets the Button Men Treatment

Dyskami Publishing Company has announced that it will be partnering with Toei Animation Inc. They will be designing a series of board games based on the Sailor Moon Crystal anime.

First in the line of games will be Sailor Moon Crystal Dice Challenge which will be released late this summer 2017. The dice game licensed the Cheapass Game Button Men: Beat People Up mechanics and will be compatible with Button Men characters (in case you want Sailor Moon and her scouts to face off against mafioso).

In the game, players will play on of 24 characters from the anime and battle them against each other over several rounds of combat. Using a set of dice dictated by the character, you will roll and use the results to capture your opponent’s dice and gain points. Whoever wins the combat gains a point, while the defeated character gets to power up. The first person to win three rounds wins the game (best 3 out of 5). You can also play on teams and Dyskami has included rules for tournament play.

The game comes with

  • 24 character cards, each featuring a hero or villain from the Sailor Moon Crystal series
  • 24 polyhedral dice – four coloured sets of six different dice types
  • 55 cardboard die-cut tokens representing special abilities, coins, and victory tokens
  • 2 plastic card holders and 2 custom lanyards for social portable play that are ideal for playing at conventions or in other large groups
  • 6 challenge cards to advertise that you are ready for a combat challenge, each featuring a super-deformed Sailor Moon Crystal character

“We are absolutely thrilled to be producing a line of Sailor Moon Crystal board and dice games for fans of the series,” said Dyskami Publishing Company President, Mark MacKinnon. “Sailor Moon Crystal offers a dynamic range of iconic characters and rich storylines that makes it an ideal series for adaptation into tabletop games. Sailor Moon and her allies have spanned generations, capturing the hearts of both gamers and anime buffs since the early 1990s and we look forward to bringing them to the gaming table.”

Jess: The second title Dyskami will be releasing is coming out later in the year and will be a tile-passing-and-bluffing game called Sailor Moon Crystal Truth or Bluff. I can’t wait to try these out. I used to watch a ton of Sailor Moon when I was younger. It is such a silly and wonderful series.
