Paradox Interactive Dives Into the Board Game Biz

Video game developer and publisher Paradox Interactive has announced they are bringing some of their best-selling and award-winning titles to tabletop games!

They are starting off their board game line with Crusader Kings, a strategy game designed and published in cooperation with Free League Publishing. In this 3-5 player game, you’ll be trying to gain influence over medieval Europe and establish your family by building up your realm, engaging in diplomacy and intrigue, growing your wealth and military might, and making sure you have an heir to continue your legacy. Crusader Kings is currently on Kickstarter right now and has already crushed its $57,057 goal. You can check out the project here.

Next in line for publication will be board game versions of Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, and Cities: Skylines. I’ve never had a chance to play any of the video games these new tabletop titles will be based on, but looking over the play style most of these look like they will be solid transitions.
